To create much needed space I've been auctioning much of my martial arts DVD collections and I've decided to put up this rare “Old School Combatives” x5 DVD series by Carl Cestari. These are the original retail DVDs & slipcovers. Volumes 1-4 are the rare first edition slipcovers and disc labels produced by ZenShin Martial Arts Health & Fitness Ltd. who produced these DVD for Close-Quarter Combat.com, which was Carl Cestari's original website for this series of DVDs. Volume 5 is produced by Carl.Cestari.com, a website dedicated to the memory of Carl Cestari and who have the licence for selling his old VHS videos transferred onto DVD. Original purchase price of these DVDs were $199.75 (approx. £160.GBPs) although Carl Cestari.com are selling the complete set, but not with the original slipcover & disc artwork for $125.00 (approx. £100 GBP's) less import tax & shipping costs. Included in this rare and unique DVD series are: Old School Series Volume 1 - Fundamentals of Unarmed Combat Designed from the actual techniques taught to British Commandos & US Special Service soldiers during World War II as developed by W.E Fairbairn, E.A. Sykes, Rex Applegate etc. & thoroughly researched by the late Carl Cestari, this DVD teaches the fundamental principles and techniques on how to survive a close quarter combatives situation. Some of the techniques covered include: How to establish a safe distance How to position yourself in relation to the assailant Explosive and ballistic edge-of hand combinations Chin-jabs, stomps and gouges. The "lead with speed follow with power" concept. The "drop-step" technique to deliver maximum power without any winding up or "telegraphing" your intention to strike the target. Old School Series Volume 2 - Advanced Strikes The perfect complement to volume 1, the "Fundamentals of Unarmed Combat". The techniques taught in this DVD will teach you how to become more dangerous by learning how to use different areas of your body to cause damage to the target. Includes: Elbow smashes Shin-scrapes Head-butts Hip-whips and more Surprise the attacker using unlikely weapons like your hip or the top of your head The correct way to deliver a head-butt and how to generate maximum power with these unorthodox weapons Old School Series Volume 3 - Ground Fighting The popularity today of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Catch Wrestling have led to a resurgence of ground fighting in martial arts and combatives systems and although excellent systems in their own rights, they are designed for sports and they leave some gaps that need to be filled when finding yourself on the ground in hand to hand combat scenarios. Do not get caught playing the game of submission. The assailant will not "tap out". The techniques taught on this DVD are perfect for novices or advanced ground fighting practitioners who need to add an edge to their bag of tricks. Do not get caught on your back without this information. What happens if you find yourself on your back with your opponent standing over you? What if your assailant is carrying a variety of weapons? Old School Series Volume 4 - Defense against Grabs & Holds Traditional martial; arts tend to teach multiple counters to individual attack scenarios. WWII close quarter combat methods had to be instilled quickly into soldiers and drilled over the minimal amount of time available so counters to grabs and holds could be used instinctively without thinking. Training was short & sharp. Only a handful of techniques were necessary to cover a multitude of situations. Why learn three separate defenses if someone grabs your wrist, shoulder or collar when only one will do, especially when caught by surprise. This DVD expands on the fundamental techniques taught through the first 2 DVD's & teaches you how to apply these techniques against grabbing and holding attacks. Old School Series Volume 5 - Bare Knuckle Boxing This DVD covers old style bare knuckle boxing and fist fighting for close combat. You will learn how to hit with power anywhere on the body and how to develop an effective knockout technique. With proper conditioning, training and attitude these techniques can be used as a valuable adjunct to other self-defense methods. Carl Cestari was renowned for his encyclopaedic knowledge of WWII combatives which he painstakingly researched and taught throughout his life. He held multiple black belts in various martial arts but it was his training in WWII combatives that defined his teaching. A former US Army Ranger & New Jersey Police Officer, Cestari had plenty of experience in handling real world violence. In 1982, during a photo shoot at a leaving party held on behalf of Cestari, he accidentally shot and killed his partner, John Maiorella and was convicted of manslaughter. Cestari spent 5 years in prison and as an ex-cop, had to learn how to survive against constant attacks from other inmates. Cestari was an extremely popular combatives instructor and sought out by anyone who wanted to learn hard core combatives for survival. Black Belt Magazine named him one of the "20 Toughest Men to Ever Live". Carl Cestari devoted his life to training, studying and teaching the techniques that he knew would work in real-life situations. This was based on his own experience and that of men who preceded him who used these techniques in military, civilian and law enforcement situations and had lived to tell the tales. The material featured on these DVDs were transferred from the original VHS video series by ZenShin Martial Arts & Carl Cestari.com from the mastertapes produced by Carl Cestari for Close Quarter Combat.com so the quality relates to VHS video and not to modern Hi-Definition, digitally remastered DVD video standards however they do form one of the most accurate representations available of these old school combative methods which are as relevant today as they were when they were first taught. Note: That all DVD are sold on a non-return basis. I won't accept returned DVDs however in the unlikely event that a faulty DVD is received I will offer a refund but only on the receipt of the returned faulty DVD.
