Rehabilitation is aninterdisciplinary field that aims at the optimal restoration of anindividual's physical, mental, social and work abilities that have been reduced as aresult of anaccident or illness.

Rehabilitation medicine is anindependent medical specialization that works closely with other medical disciplines, as well as with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, podiatrists, speech therapists and social workers.

Physiotherapy is part of acomprehensive rehabilitation. It deals with the prevention and treatment of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. It is based on the knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics and is based on the latest knowledge about brain function in the control and learning of movement. Through movement and other physio-therapeutic procedures, it specifically influences the functions of other systems, including mental functions.

A good therapist views each patient as anoriginal, as a"puzzle to be solved." He/she perceives functional disorders in context, because aproblem in acertain segment of the musculoskeletal system can, in addition to local difficulties, cause disorders in the joints or soft tissues, often very far from the site of the original pain. Professor Lewit - the guru of the Czech school of rehabilitation - said: "He who treats where it hurts is forever lost."

Our goal is to actively involve every patient in treatment - to teach him to perceive his body and to prevent disease with the help of appropriate exercises.

Pelvic floor therapy

The pelvic floor is asystem of muscle layers and ligaments that are spread like anet between the coccyx, the pubic symphysis and the ischial tuberosities. The pelvic floor has fundamental importance in awoman's ability to conceive achild. Likewise, it is significant during the course of pregnancy, and plays animportant role in childbirth, andin the postpartum period.

Pelvic floor dysfunction may manifest as incontinence (unwanted leakage of urine) or may cause pelvic, sacral or coccyx pain, menstrual pain, painful intercourse or functional infertility.

At MYCLINIC, the gynaecologists and physiotherapist work together on pelvic floor therapy. The physiotherapist then teaches the client to be aware of her pelvic floor – to visualise it, relax and then to strengthen it properly. Animportant tool at this point is the MYO 200, which detects the quality of the contraction via agraphic recording. The client then has better awareness of how these muscles work.

As part of her postgraduate specialization in myoskeletal medicine, she performs differential diagnostics within the framework of functional and structural changes in the musculoskeletal system. As acertified internist, she applies aholistic approach to the patient. She specializes in pelvic floor issues, psychosomatics, osteopathy, viscero-vertebral relationships.
