Service changes to 31 Metrobus routes will take place Sunday, June 16, 2024. These changes will improve on-time performance and expand service on routes with continued ridership growth to meet customer demand across the region.
Highlights include:
•In the District of Columbia, adding trips and adjusting trip times on several routes in response to customer demand;
•In Maryland, extending late night service on Georgia Avenue to improve connections from Medstar Montgomery Hospital to Glenmont; and,
•In Virginia, adding additional Route 18P trips on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays due to continued ridership growth on express commuter service from West Springfield to the Pentagon.

District of Columbia
74 Convention Center-Southwest Waterfront
•The current detour near Audi Field using Half Street, Potomac Avenue, and R Street SW will become the permanent route. Buses will no longer use 1st Street between V and T streets, and T Street SW.
•Stops at T + 2nd streets SW (stop 1003941) and 2nd + R streets SW (stop 1003942) will no longer be served with the new routing. New stops are anticipated to be added later pending coordination with the District Department of Transportation along Half and R streets SW.
•A new schedule will reflect trip and travel time adjustments.
D6 Sibley Hospital-Stadium Armory
•In response to ridership, additional trips will operate when school is in session:
o Eastbound to Farragut Square, departing Sibley Hospital at 3:27 p.m.
o Westbound to Sibley Hospital, departing Farragut Square at 8:14 a.m.
•On Saturdays, service between 10 p.m. and midnight will operate every 40 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.
K2 Takoma-Fort Totten
•Select trip times will change when school is in session. The existing Wednesday-only trips departing Fort Totten and Takoma at 1:34 p.m. will change to depart at 1:39 p.m.
M4 Nebraska Avenue
•To align resources with ridership, the northbound trip departing Sibley Hospital at 9:40 p.m. and the southbound trip departing Knollwood at 9:06 p.m. will no longer operate.
P6 Anacostia-Eckington
•In response to ridership, select trip times will change when school is in session. The existing trips departing T Street + Summit Place NE (McKinley High School) at 3:40 and 4:20 p.m. will change to depart at 3:20 and 4:37 p.m.
Schedule Adjustments
•New schedules will reflect trip and travel time adjustments to improve service for customers on routes 62 and 70.
Maryland
A12 Martin Luther King, Jr. Highway
•On weekdays and Saturdays, the southbound trip departing New Carrollton at 2 a.m. will no longer operate.
C27 Central Avenue
•Route C27 supplemental service between Addison Rd Station and Pointer Ridge, including service to Six Flags, will operate Saturday, May 27 through Monday, September 2, 2024.
D12 Southern Avenue-Suitland
•On weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the eastbound trip departing Southern Av Station and the westbound trip departing Suitland at 2 a.m. will no longer operate.
F1 Chillum Road
•Routing and stop changes made on February 22, 2024 due to the reopening of Ager Road at Queens Chapel Road will be reflected in BusETA.
F4 New Carrollton-Silver Spring
•On weekdays, the eastbound trip departing Silver Spring 2 a.m. and the westbound trip departing New Carrollton at 2 a.m. will no longer operate.
J12 Marlboro Pike
•Service will no longer operate to Presidential Parkway. This service is currently provided only during weekday rush hours.
L12 Landover Road
•On weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays after approximately 10:30 p.m., buses will no longer enter the former Prince George's Hospital/Cheverly Health Center complex via Hospital Drive.
R1, R2 Riggs Road
•On weekdays, a new southbound trip will depart Calverton at 6 a.m. and a new northbound trip will depart Fort Totten at 3:50 p.m. The existing northbound Route R1 trip departing Fort Totten at 3:45 p.m. will instead depart at 3:40 p.m.
R4 Queens Chapel Road
•Routing and stop changes made on February 22, 2024 due to the reopening of Ager Road at Queens Chapel Road will be reflected in BusETA.
Y2 Georgia Avenue-Maryland
•On weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, two new southbound trips will depart Medstar Montgomery Hospital at 2:08 a.m. and 2:38 a.m. These new trips will end at Glenmont.
Schedule Adjustments
•New schedules will reflect trip and travel time adjustments to improve service for customers on routes C8 and T18.
Virginia
1B Wilson Boulevard-Vienna
•During weekday rush hours, service will operate every 30 minutes instead of every 25 minutes.
•Weekday morning rush hour service will change to operate between 5:44 and 10:14 a.m. and afternoon rush hour service will operate between 3:15 and 7:26 p.m.
1C Fair Oaks-Fairfax Boulevard
•All trips will serve the new Monument Drive Transit Center near Random Hills Road + Government Center Parkway.
•Trips that begin and end at the Fairfax County Government Center will change to begin and end at the new Monument Drive Transit Center.
•A new schedule will reflect trip and travel time adjustments.
2B Fair Oaks-Jermantown Road
•All trips will serve the new Monument Drive Transit Center near Random Hills Road + Government Center Parkway.
•Trips that begin and end service at the Fairfax County Government Center will change to begin and end service at the new Monument Drive Transit Center.
•A new schedule will reflect trip and travel time adjustments.
17B, 17M Kings Park-North Springfield
•To align resources with low holiday ridership, service will no longer operate on five federal holidays: Juneteenth, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and President’s Day.
17G, 17K Kings Park Express
•To align resources with low holiday ridership, service will no longer operate on five federal holidays: Juneteenth, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and President’s Day.
18P Burke Centre
•On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, four eastbound trips departing Rolling Valley Park + Ride to the Pentagon will be added to the schedule in response to crowding and growing customer demand during morning rush hour.
•To align resources with low holiday ridership, service will no longer operate on five federal holidays: Juneteenth, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and President’s Day. Alternative service at Rolling Valley Park + Ride and along Old Keene Mill Road east of Rolling Valley Park + Ride is available on Fairfax Connector 310 and the Blue Line to and from Franconia-Springfield and the Pentagon.
•A new schedule will reflect trip and travel time adjustments.
29G Annandale
•The southbound trip departing the Pentagon at 9:55 p.m. will no longer operate. The southbound trip departing the Pentagon at 8:55 p.m. will change to depart at 9 p.m. and become the last southbound trip.
29K, 29N Alexandria-Fairfax
•Service at Landmark Transit Center will move to a new, temporary location under the parking garage to accommodate construction. Buses will operate along Landmark Street (new) to access the transit center.
•A new schedule will reflect trip and travel time adjustments.
